... stop for a minute, an hour, a lifetime. In the vibrant air of the party, there is a concert of sounds that awakens the soul.
Listen with amazement as the musical bands weave together melodies that evoke distant lands, dancing between midday notes and south-eastern melodies.
Listen, with ears pricked up like sails in the wind, the festive noise that mixes with the tinkling of bells and the joyful tolling. It is as if the heart of the ancient village beats in unison with the frenetic rhythm of the music. The percussion rolls like distant thunder, the oboe and the flute whisper ancestral secrets, while the trumpets ring like calls to joy. It is an orchestra of life that expresses itself through sounds, an ode to the past and the present that merges into a single harmony. And while the wind carries the dancing notes with it, let yourself be enveloped by the spirit of celebration that resonates in every instrument.
Listen, and let yourself be carried away by the vortex of emotions that arises from every chord, because in those sounds there is the history of a people and the promise of a bright future.
Listen, and let yourself be lulled by the sweet enchantment of the sound box that fills the square and the music that fills the air, because in those moments of sonic communion lies the magic of a unique experience, capable of touching the deepest strings of the soul .
It is from here, from this frame in Bodini's words, that the work carried out by the entire VI Council Commission and the offices of the Department of Culture to produce this regional law begins.
In this description lies the deepest essence of what the Bande mean on a social, cultural, identity level. In this image lies the entire need to finally give Apulia's band heritage the prominence and appreciation it deserves.
The Band, as it is today, is composed of wind and percussion instruments and its origin dates back to the 14th century. The formation of the so-called Bande da Giro is then typical of southern Italy. These are small, medium and large ensembles (according to Vexelli's subdivision dating back to the early 20th century) that, alongside a wide repertoire of symphonic marches, perform entire transcriptions of classical symphonies and symphonic poems on typical stages known as 'soundboxes'.
"The tour band arrived where no school, book or theatre did: in the hearts of the people, in the industrious kitchens for the feast-day meal, on the open exits of the houses at court, in the swarms of children who chased the brass instruments and mingled with the orchestral players."
Simply supporting our bands means this. It means investing in democratic art, which reaches everyone and everyone, which softens souls and improves our communities.
It means empowering everyone and everyone to cultivate art, passion.
